BLIND
Performance
2011

This performance is an experiment at the intersection of body art and interaction design. As a synesthetic person, I perceive colors as sound and sensation, and the work emerges from the desire to transmit that experience to the audience, turning color into an immersive and audible event.

During the performance, I create a live body painting in front of a webcam programmed to recognize different colors. The visual data is processed in real time by a computer and sent to a digital synthesizer, activating a specific sound for each hue. The harmonic flow and modulation of each instrument are determined entirely by the coordinates of the colored forms in space, so that my painted hands, tracked by the webcam, become a musical instrument I can physically play.

Scientific research into the deep relationship between sound and color is the starting point for a more personal journey, one that explores the porous boundaries between the senses and invites the audience into a synesthetic field of perception.
