I am very happy to be selected for the next Biennial, which will be back in Portogallo from July 16 to 31, 2022.
More than four decades of existence, the Cerveira International Art Biennial has a historic past. Talking about its beginnings implies contextualizing a period that encompasses the democratic transition of 1974. As a corollary of the post-dictatorial regime, a need for artistic intervention prevailed as a recovered model of free expression. The creative urge, hitherto repressed, was strongly expressed.
It is in this context that the International Art Meetings arise, organized by Grupo Alvarez do Porto and Jaime Isidoro. The aim was to establish the creation of free spaces for street intervention, raising the art/population dialogue to its maximum exponent, through a face-to-face contact with the artist.
